It
is the year 66 A.D. Consuming fires of rebellion are aflame throughout
the troublesome eastern provinces of the Roman Empire - especially in Judea.
In
Jerusalem the inadequate Roman garrison of Florus, the corrupt Procurator,
is bloodied and finally massacred by the tough Jewish Zealot fighters of
John of Giscala.
For
the fourth time a detachment of cavalry with a plea to the Emperor Nero
is dispatched for Caesarea Phillipi on the coast. Along the way,
all but two of the riders fall in a brutal ambush. Another is lost in a
terrifying storm at sea.
Finally
the message reaches Rome.
But
the response will forever change the course of world history …
