VICARII
PRODUCTIONS is in the business of either
creating new film and television productions or at the very least examining
existing intellectual properties to see if they can be transformed into
viable commercial product. We have no interest in art house
films - they don't feed the kids!
Every
film or television production begins with an idea. It is just after
this point that the process of turning an idea into a business - and that's
what films and TV shows are - goes wrong. The idea usually becomes
somebody's baby and from that point on they will pursue it regardless of
creative, market or economic logic. Such ideas are bound to fail because
market forces determine whether a film or television story will be appreciated
and taken to heart enough by the viewing public for them to put their hands
in their pockets and buy tickets at the box office.
Only
a minute percentage of film and television ideas ever put money in the
pockets of those who began the long journey from idea to finished product.
Film scripts can lay on dusty shelves for decades - it took Mel Gibson
13 years to bring The Passion of the Christ to the screen!
Some
of the stories on this website were conceived decades ago and have undergone
revision after revision as technology and market forces change around them.
VICARII PRODUCTIONS and those who have contributed to these projects are
in this business for the long haul and that is why we have a large and
diverse body of work in progress.
We
subject all raw story ideas to a rigid set of qualifying questions before
we ever seriously put pen to paper. If the original idea does
not pass muster it dies right there. We expect the projects we invest
time, talent and money into to work - and so we will keep polishing each
idea you see on these pages until its time and opportunity arrive.
