LYN VICKERY - VICARII PRODUCTIONS works in cooperation with experts in film and television, investment, and distribution to guide productions safely and successfully from original idea to finished product.

LYN VICKERY: Lyn studied photography and film making in the 1970s at Mt Lawley Technical College in Western Australia.  He still fondly remembers his first movie camera - a manual wind up standard eight Bolex which ran just over two minutes of film on two 25 ft sides of the spool.  That taught him to think long and hard and prepare well before shooting.  Since then he has worked in many practical aspects of the film and television industry, including training on air talent training for anchors, hosts, actors and extras, scripting, set design, direction of commercials and the production of videos and live to air television news and current affairs shows.

He began his writing career in 1972, when he collaborated with P.J. Emory to create the first draft for the motion picture Messiah.
A huge project, Messiah required detailed research and was rewritten and fine tuned over many years, eventually resulting in the two film scripts  (Messiah and it's sequel Messiah II) and a book.   This package is now market ready.

With Murray Henderson (also an experienced commercial television producer), Lyn co-developed and wrote the original scripts for The Lake, The Last Scream and Sacred (an aboriginal Dreamtime drama).  Lyn had major input into the research, storyline and plot development for the World War II film - Betano Bay.  He also spent over two years working with Murray on the television concepts, series bibles and treatments for a proposed television series, Suspect, and Murray's documentary into a Frozen Hell.

His own writing projects include the film scripts Primary Target, Rebellion and The Final Solution.  He also researched and wrote the concept, series bible and opening episodes for the police television drama  O'Connor Central - MCU, the comedy series concept Gracelands, the competition series The Midas Touch and  a series on the international customs and coast guard scene - Tide Waiters.

Lyn was honoured to assist with editing and eventually a rewrite of the proposed American blockbuster motion picture TZAR - a sisters story.

Background outlines have also been created by Lyn for the documentaries - Great Field Commanders, Eagles at War  and  Napoleon (A tumultuous journey).

In 2005 Lyn created and produced a three part reality television series titled "Your Big Break" which went to air on Channel 31 in September 2005.  He also created and produced the "live to air" Monday to Friday, morning breakfast television news and current affairs show titled "WAke Up Perth" with over 100 shows having gone to air by March of 2006.  He won an Australian "Antennas" award for Best New Producer for this series.

He is at present scripting a documentary with the Army Museum of Western Australia and the Australian Army history unit.

Lyn is also the author of the paperbacks Deceptions and Success.  He has extensive experience in the computing industry and was formally with TAFE (Technical and Further Education) where he lectured in Business Computing.

JOHN McGUCKIN:  John has long experience and is well known as a director and producer in the television industry in Western Australian and Asia.  In his earlier days he was also keen on stunt work!    Prior to operating his own business "Bluestone Films", John was senior producer at Editel.  He is now heavily involved in the TV commercial scene as well as working in partnership with several highly regarded feature film directors.

John also prepared the $15m preliminary budget for Primary Target.

MURRAY HENDERSON:  Murray has owned and operated several successful publishing businesses and is a man of many talents.  Murray was executive producer for the Channel Nine network series All About Food and had input into several other TV shows aired by the same network.  As an ideas man for new TV concepts and directions Murray has been hard to beat.  He and Lyn Vickery worked for over two years on series concept development and scripts for:  Suspect, The Lake, The Last Scream, Into a Frozen Hell and Betano Bay for which he holds copyrights. They also hold joint copyright on Tide Waiters.

PATRICK J. EMORY:   Mr Emory graduated from the University of Western Australia in business and has spent most of his professional life in the corporate sphere of the mining industry.  During that time one of his escapes has been to work alongside Lyn Vickery on the Messiah film project.  His meticulous and unflagging support is greatly valued.

WHY THE NAME VICARII PRODUCTIONS

* Vicarius.  An explanation of the title in ancient times.

VICARII IN ROMAN TIMES  - THE EMPEROR DIOCLETIAN

By the time of Diocletian, further changes in the organization and the administration of the Roman Empire  were desperately needed. The task of dealing with the

numerous  problems of the vast Roman state was obviously greater than one man  could manage effectively. Diocletian created a board of co-emperors and  split the Empire into eastern and western halves. A collegiate system was established comprising two senior rulers (augusti) in each part and two deputies (caesars) who would succeed them.

This Tetrarchic system did not last for long (AD 293-313), but its  repercussions survived in the eventual division of the Empire into two  halves, which would
operate almost independently (AD 395). Diocletian attempted to eliminate threats of insurrection of powerful officials by separating civil and military authority in the provincial administration.  He also created a system of smaller provinces grouped into twelve larger units (dioeceses),
controlled by governors (vicarii) directly responsible to the emperor.

"The Emperor Diocletian divided the Roman empire into twelve dioceses, each governed by a vicarius.  When Britain was made a diocese, London came into its own, as the local vicarius was based there. He was the highest political authority in Britain, reporting only to the praetorian prefect of Gaul, Spain and Britain. The diocese of Britain itself was divided into four provinces, each governed by a praesides.  (Scullard 171)."

Many of the Vicarii of Roman Britain are known. These include Alypius (Vicarius 357-360 AD).

     # Note - the office of vicarii in connection with Global Action is in no way associated with the present day church of Rome.
     # Note - in Roman times a diocese was not a religious division of a geographical region - it was legal, judicial and administrative.

THE VICARII  – in Scotland.  Clan McVicar

Kintyre, Western Argyllshire.

The ancient homeland of Clann Mac A’ Phiocair is Kintyre in Western  Agyllshire.  The Roman legions knew them as the ‘ Vicarii,’ literally, ‘those who sacrifice themselves for others.’ In Gaelic they were known as Mac A’ Phiocair which became Anglicised to MacVicar.   The remains of ‘ BalMacVicar Township’ can still be seen on the Mull of Kintyre.

With the demise of Roman power in Britain the power vacuum was filled by local men of learning, power, influence and Christian values - the title and position of this ancient office eventually descended to the Vicars of today.  Also from these Roman roots grew the associated words, names and titles - vicarage, Vicary, Vickare, Vickery, Vickary, Vickory Vickry and others ...

Also found in Devonshire. Some were also from La Vacherie, and acquired their seat at Dunkeswell in Devon soon after the Norman Conquest in 1066.

The Scottish clan crest MacVicar is an eagle and thus they became known as ‘The Sons Of The Eagle.’
